Those eligible for our support include:
Service Personnel, Veterans, and those who have served alongside our Armed Forces, who were injured or became ill during service, or have an injury or illness due to their service. This includes regulars, reserves and recruits who have completed phase one training, and those medically downgraded but currently in military employment, in the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Army, Royal Air Force. It also includes civilians who support the military on deployment and work under the direction of the commander within the Armed Forces in an area of conflict or war, for example, Royal Fleet Auxiliary, NAAFI, embedded journalists, photographers, and local translators.

We refer to those who are eligible for our support as ‘beneficiaries’.

Carl Shadrake was critically injured twice in Afghanistan. The second time, not only did he have to come to terms with his own injuries, he also had to cope with the devastating news that his brother had been killed in action.
