Paul Nichol

Former Army Corporal Paul has Cauda Equina Syndrome, which affects his lower limbs and back, and has resulted in him having to use a wheelchair. Discharged in 2013, Paul competed at Orlando 2016 and will be taking part in wheelchair rugby and athletics (shot put and discus) at this year’s Games. Sport is helping him to make positive changes in his life, including getting out and training regularly. Paul also provides introductory training in wheelchair basketball and wheelchair rugby at Help for Heroes’ Phoenix House Recovery Centre and hopes to complete a half ironman within the next year. “Being a part of the team continues to aid my psychological wellbeing, therefore promoting a physical recovery by getting me fitter.”
