Darren, who suffers from a spine and shoulder injury, used to find it difficult to self-motivate, even though he knew keeping active would help with his long-term rehabilitation. However, training for the Warrior Games – and now the Invictus Games - changed all that. The former RAF Corporal has found sport has boosted not only his confidence and self-esteem, but also his physical strength and mental wellbeing. His personal relationships have flourished, and Darren has set his sights on the European Athletic Championships and other international events. Aside from his focus on sport, Darren is working to raise awareness of mental health issues around the UK.
