“The veterans are friendly, passionate people. We’ve had lots of fun preparing for the show and have gained new friends in the process. The team really came together, sharing personal stories and finding a sense of community."
Help for Heroes has partnered with Sparsholt College to create ‘The Force for Good garden' at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2018.
A nationwide movement – The Force for Good encourages us all to unite and make a difference by supporting our wounded, injured and sick Veterans and their families.
Inspired by this, The Force for Good garden has been created in collaboration between Sparsholt College students and Help for Heroes Veterans.
The garden will tell the powerful story of the role gardening plays in the recovery and ongoing support of injured British Armed Forces personnel and their families.
The garden is split into three sections: Surviving, Stability and Support. Sparsholt Horticulture students are collaborating with members of the Help for Heroes Gardening Club at Tedworth House Recovery Centre to design and execute these key messages. The Force for Good garden also raises public awareness on health and wellbeing by showcasing gardening as a recovery activity.
After RHS Chelsea 2018 the garden’s legacy will continue this positive impact – with elements being re-homed and donated to community groups, to help more people, learn, grow and heal through gardening.
