This is the incredible story about a grand-mother with a bucket list plan that she has just started to pursue with her first item ticked off her list as a sky-dive. Rose Oldham, 80, decided that her 80th birthday should mark the start of a new chapter in her life so she drew up an action-packed bucket list of things she would like to do before she dies.
At the top of her list, was a sky-dive. On July 3rd, Mrs Oldham achieved her leap from a plane 13,000ft above the ground whilst strapped to an army instructor. She loved her first sky-diving experience so much that she has promised to do it again! Mrs Oldham said, “It was absolutely brilliant and I couldn’t of wished for a better day, in fact I don’t think I’ve had a better day in my life. I wasn’t scared at all.” Rose travelled with her family to Nottingham where she was going to complete the dive with the assistance of the Parachute Regiments display team, the Red Devils.
She completed her stunt hand in hand with her 20- year old student grandson Scott Hamilton, from gee cross, who was also a first time jumper.
The dare devil duo originally set off with the intention of raising only £500 for Help for Heroes but they have now managed to raise a staggering £1,336.70 out of their sky-dive and that’s purely on bymycharity.com so this is not an overall total of other fundraising methods of her contribution!
