With her husband serving in the Army, Rachel Tuliva is used to the military life. But in her role as a cookery teacher at the Wellington Academy, she has also seen the difficulties that some of her students encounter, particularly those who have witnessed loved ones battling mental and physical injuries.
This first-hand experience, together with her own military connection, saw Rachel and many pupils at the school sign up to Bake for Heroes in 2017, where they were able to express their baking talents as well as raising some much-needed funds for Help for Heroes. Rachel and co-raised more than £700, with Victoria sponges, chocolate fudge cakes, Battenberg’s and many other delicacies proving irresistible to staff and students alike.
Watch the video to see what several of her students plan on bringing to the table later this month, including a particularly large surprise!
