We have been hearing some lovely stories about how people have been supporting the 2014 Colossal Cake Sale around the country. These two came to us on the same day and we just had to share them!
Seven Year Old Ethan
Ethan has been army mad for as long as his mum can remember. He's a regular supporter of Help for Heroes and he jumped at the chance to fundraise for the Charity by holding his very own Colossal Cake Sale.
Ethan dressed in his best army gear and decorated his Grandma's garden in camo, invited family over for cakes, biscuits and lots of cups of tea, all while raising lots of money for the Charity.
92 Year Old Ken
Ken Beard was inspired by the horrors he witnessed during the second World War to volunteer for Help for Heroes. He recently helped out at the Colossal Cake Sale at the Priory Shopping Centre in Worksop which raised over £1500.
Ken is a Bomber Command veteran and flew in two operations on D-Day. As part of an aircrew, he saw lots of suffering and loss of life and said that there wasn't anything like Help for Heroes in those days. He is very happy that people now realise what we owe our Servicemen and women, and that lifelong support is now available through our Recovery Centres.
