Like many, Allen Bellamy's family has a proud history of serving in the Armed Forces. From his great-uncles who served in the First World War, to uncle Arthur who was in the Navy in the Second World War, cousin John Doyle who served in the Grenadier Guards, as did his son Paul and Allen's nephew Callum Caroll.

"It will be an honour to ride for them all, but especially in memory of my uncle John who landed on Juno beach with the Royal Marines 46 Commando on D-Day + 2. He fought through France, Germany and Holland where he was wounded. After the war he became a Drayman for Chester’s Brewery where he stayed until his retirement and where I started my career in Brewing as an apprentice Engineer.

Allen rode with colleagues from Robinsons Brewery where he now works. The Big Battlefield Bike Ride is just one of a wide variety of fundraising activities Robinsons is undertaking as part of its Charity partnership with Help for Heroes.
