On your marks, get set...GO!

Looking for your next fundraising challenge? Our virtual challenges are adaptable for all abilities, and you'll be raising life-changing funds for the Armed Forces community.

Participants are challenged to take on 30 minutes of activity a day during the month of September. You can run, swim, cycle, walk or mix it up throughout the month! The funds you raise will help provide life-changing support to veterans and their families. The challenge officially starts on 1 September.

FUNDRAISING

Amazing supporters like you have raised £150 in their previous virtual challenges, but why not go miles ahead of the rest? We are here to help every step of the way and can provide plenty of ideas and tips to help you smash that target.

This is your challenge, so you can do it any way you like. There's no pressure, take things at your own pace and do whatever feels comfortable.

Once you receive your first donation, we will send you a pair of Help for Heroes branded socks!

Meet Rob

Meet Rob, an Army veteran, Help for Heroes Ambassador and an avid runner.

  1. Motivating yourself to get out and train can be difficult. Consider finding a training partner who can encourage you to get out, as well as you encourage them! Even if it is a matter of phoning each other to check they are getting out to train on time. I do everything I can to reduce the barriers to give me no excuse to get out the door.
  2. Whatever you do, do it regularly. If you become time crunched, remember getting some exercise done is better than doing none. So little and often and make it part of your routine. First thing in the morning works for me, then it is done, and I don't need to worry about it. It might not work for others, but experiment and see what works for you.
  3. Finally, enjoy it. Often our idea of doing physical activity is tainted by a bad experience. Such as being forced to do cross country at school in the snow, or being pushed too far in session, or even embarrassed for whatever reason. Forget that you are doing this for you, run at your pace, lift weights that are sensible to you, just look forward to what is ahead and enjoy it!
