Difficulty levels explained

Green

Easiest – A challenge for beginners, suitable for most fitness levels.

Yellow

Moderate – Slightly more demanding. Some previous experience is beneficial.

Amber

Advanced – A difficult challenge, a real test of endurance and agility.

Red

Expert – The most strenuous of our challenges. High fitness and specialised gear are often necessary.

Experience stunning views as we trek past the breathtaking Cautley Spout waterfall, follow the scenic River Rawthey, and conquer the 677m summit of the Calf. With rolling hills and deep valleys, the Dales promise an unforgettable hike.

About the Yorkshire Dales Heroes Hike

  • The hike's circular 24km route will begin and end in the town of Sedbergh.
  • The ascent on this trek will be approximately 1000 metres.
  • The hike will take around 7-9 hours.
  • Our expert guides will be on hand to offer support every step of the way.

This challenge is bespoke to Help for Heroes and is organised and managed by our event provider, RAW Adventures.

FUNDRAISING AND REGISTRATION

The registration fee for all participants is £49 per person.

The fundraising target that we ask each participant to raise is £200. Please note you don't have to meet this target before the event. You can continue to collect donations afterwards. 

The Events Team are always on hand to support you through your fundraising. You can find some handy Fundraising Tools on our website, and we have lots of Fundraising ideas to get you started.

    • You can sign up for as many hikes as you want! We've grouped them into four exciting bundles: Three Peaks in Three Months, Best of British Countryside, Coastal Routes, and Historic Hikes. Why not challenge yourself to complete a set? Or mix and match your favourite locations.

    • Here’s a general outline for the day of your hike:

      • 0700am Recommended time for breakfast (this is not provided to you on the event)
      • 0800am Arrive at the start location for registration
      • 0830am Kit check and safety briefing
      • 0900am latest planned departure time
      • 5:00 PM+: Challenge complete! Arrive back at the event car park

      Please note that these timings might change slightly. You’ll receive full details 2 weeks before the event.

    • All Heroes Hikes are open to entrants aged 10 and over.
