Recovery in the West

The devastating impact of Covid-19 has forced Help for Heroes to develop cost reduction measures to protect our life-changing services and keep our promise to be here for wounded veterans and families, for as long as they need us.

We rely on the generosity of the British public for 97% of our income, and with all our planned face-to-face fundraising activities and events since April either cancelled or postponed, income this year has fallen significantly.

This, coupled with a projected 30% reduction in regular income over the coming years as a result of the pandemic and economic recession, has forced us to significantly review our operating practices and the way we deliver help and support to wounded veterans.

We have therefore taken the decision to no longer operate out of Plymouth Recovery Centre for the foreseeable future and will be focusing on community and digital delivery.

We are not stopping any recovery services but are looking at the ways in which we deliver support to most effectively reach the wounded veterans and families that need us, regardless of their location, in a more cost-effective way.

We are working closely with the MOD to ensure that all centres continue to provide core recovery activities for wounded, injured or sick Service Personnel during lockdown and beyond.
