X-Factor - Song for Heroes

X FACTOR stars are to release a single to raise money for forces charity Help For Heroes.All the acts that tonight make it to the final 12 will unite behind the Sun-backed campaign to aid wounded troops.

A project insider said: “I’ve never heard Simon more excited about anything — there’s a real buzz about this single.

The single will be released on October 27, at the start of the two-week run up to Remembrance Sunday.

All proceeds are to be shared between H4H and the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Fund.

RFL Support

To show its appreciation of their bravery, skill and professionalism, the RFL is offering 2,000 free tickets for the Gillette Fusion Rugby League International, to members of the UK’s Armed Forces.

At the match collections will take place for ‘Help for Heroes’ and the charity’s distinctive wristbands will be available for sale.

Action Day at West Mercia Constabulary Headquaters Hindlip Hall Worcester On Sunday 5th October.
The action starts at 12pm - 4.30pm.

Displays from West Mercis's Police Dogs and Handlers. Army Bomb Disposal Squad. Red Devils Parachute Freefall Team. Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue crash demonstration. Military vehicles & Aircraft Static Displays, including Apache, Merlin, Sea King and more! 'Fly pasts' from popular military aircraft!

From Glasgow to Edinburgh
Andrew Goldie with his team of ex-soldiers and friends recently cycled from Glasgow to Edinburgh, a distance of 50 miles,raising £1586.50 for Help for Heroes! The event was made possible by the main sponsor RAYMOND McCANN of RMC Electrical (Scotland) LTD who provided the funds to hire the mini bus and safety van on the day of the event.

A superb fundraising event and from all of us at Help for Heroes thank you and well done.

On Fri 29 Aug Matt Winchester and his mate Trev swam from England to France in 13hrs36min having stuck to 30min legs throughout. Matt has currently raised just under £700 for H4H – an incredible achievement.

The Lord Lieutenant's Heroes Lunch went very well, Johnson Beharry VC with the Lord Lieutenant putting one of the wristbands on a World War II Military Medal winner, with the other heroes looking on.

The Brands Hatch Touring car championship was a fantastic sucess with a beautiful cobalt blue cup awarded to the driver of the day.

On Saturday November 1st 2008 at 12:00 noon Tony Bennett will start his attempt to break the Guinness World Record for carrying a 9lb brick the greatest distance to raise money for “HELP for HEROES” & the Lions Clubs.

The superheroes event was a huge success and raised £4500 for help for heroes and money towards box packing essentials to send out to the troops.

A bike ride from Ravenglass in Cumbria to Tynemouth,raised over £1000 for the Charity. A big thank you to Paul, Lou, Chris and John.

Community Matters

Community Matters

Waitrose in Salisbury launched a new initiative called Community Matters which is designed to help put a share of its profits back into the local community.

Operation Market Garden

Operation Market Garden was held to honour British, American and Polish World War II veterans with a parachute drop, battle re-enactments, an air show and a big band dance.
