Invictus Games 2017

Help for Heroes is delighted to be leading the training, selection and development of the UK Team for the Invictus Games 2017, which takes place in Toronto, Canada, between 24 – 30 September.

For those that have registered, training camps are well under way and many are channelling their efforts towards preparations for the UK Team Invictus Games Toronto 2017 Trials at the University of Bath (6-9 April.) The interest for the upcoming Invictus Games has been greater than ever. We have had over 770 people register their interest for the 90 UK team places.

For those that don’t get selected there is opportunity to get involved in the broader Help for Heroes Sports Recovery programme, or directly with local sports clubs in their area via the network of national governing body sports that are supporting the training of the UK team this year.

If you have registered your interest, there will be an online application form released to you in the second week of February which you will be required to complete in order to attend UK Team Trials and be considered for selection.

So far we have hosted 10 training camps across nine sports.

Help for Heroes

Help for Heroes is delighted to be working in partnership with the Ministry of Defence and The Royal British Legion to support the UK Team for the 2017 Invictus Games. The Royal British Legion will be responsible for the family and friends package during the Games.

Getting involved in sport helps an individual with self-confidence and feeling psychologically empowered. These significant mental health benefits can be translated outside of sport and into everyday life which is why events such as the Invictus Games are so important.

The Invictus Games Foundation was set up to pursue and develop the legacy of the Invictus Games. It manages the process of selecting the hosts of future games and overseeing their delivery.
